Arvig to Invest $2 million for Fiber Network Upgrade in Staples

Project will bring speeds up to 1Gb to homes

Arvig will invest $2 million to expand its fiber network in the city of Staples. Construction of 22 route miles began this spring and is slated to be completed in 2022. Once completed, area businesses and residents will be able to select internet speeds of up to 1Gb; and symmetrical speeds of 10Gb will be available.

In addition to expanding the fiber network in the area, Arvig also plans to upgrade network equipment. Improving existing infrastructure ensures that the upgraded 1Gb-capable speeds can be reliably delivered to customers. Studies have shown that direct access to high speed internet—especially fiber—can increase home values.

Affected customers will be contacted this summer regarding the faster service options available to them.
