Perham Student Wins Arvig Essay Contest, All-Expenses Paid Trip to Washington, D.C.
Arvig is pleased to announce Natalie Tusow, a student at Perham High School, penned the winning entry in Arvig’s annual essay contest, earning herself an all-expenses-paid trip to the Foundation for Rural Services (FRS) Youth Tour from May 31 to June 4, 2023.
Tusow, who wrote on the topic of Technology and Rural Life, will join more than 100 other high school students from rural America in Washington, D.C., where they’ll get an inside look at the legislation and governmental process of the telecommunications industry.
“The Youth Tour provides young people from our area a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience,” said David Arvig, Chief Operating Officer/Vice President of Arvig. “We’re excited to support an opportunity like this and to send Natalie as our representative.”
The FRS Youth Tour provides a forum for teens to meet and interact with their peers from other rural communities, as well as key legislative, regulatory and government figures. The Youth Tour delegates will explore historic sites including Arlington National Cemetery, Capitol Hill, Mount Vernon, Lincoln Memorial, Washington National Cathedral, the U.S. Supreme Court and Smithsonian Institution.
